About Matt Costanza

I’m Matt Costanza, a Utah-based night sky photographer near Salt Lake City focused on landscape astrophotography across the American West.

My passion for the night sky began at Cherry Springs State Park in Pennsylvania, where seeing the Milky Way with my own eyes completely changed my perspective.

That experience eventually led me west. After relocating from Upstate New York to Utah, I began exploring and photographing the remote dark skies, deserts, and mountain landscapes of the American West.

By day, I work as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Salt Lake City, Utah. By night, I capture Milky Way landscapes, dark sky destinations, and the beauty of the American West through astrophotography. My work combines adventure, creativity, and a passion for exploring remote places under the stars.

My goal is simple: to capture the same sense of wonder I felt that first night beneath the stars — whether through fine art prints or occasional night sky portrait sessions.

My work has been featured in the astrophotography ebook Milky Way NightScapes by Royce Bair, and I’ve had the opportunity to learn from and connect with photographers like the late Alyn Wallace.

Explore prints, and follow along on the blog as I document dark skies throughout Utah and the American West as well as my adventures back out east before I moved to Utah.

I’m also developing small-group landscape astrophotography workshops focused on photographing the Milky Way in remote dark sky locations.
